Luton Airport Parkway

Getting to and from London’s airports can be congested and expensive; one smaller airport is making it easier for travelers. The Luton Airport Parkway is the railway station that serves the Luton Airport. The Luton Airport is one of five international airports that serve London. It is a value oriented airport in a number of ways but primarily as it is a host for a number of discount airlines like EasyJet, Ryanair, and Wizz Air. The airport also does a brisk business in seasonal and chartered flights. The railway station is connected to the airport by a shuttle.

The Luton Airport Parkway is a new station that serves as a public transportation line into London and surrounding areas. This ties into the idea of Luton being a value based airport. Whereas, at an airport like Heathrow one would expect many to most to travel via taxicabs, rental cars, or car services. At Luton, though these options still exist, one could expect passengers to look for more economical options in transport. Hence, the value of the Luton Airport Parkway.

The Luton Airport Parkway railway station does offer a four story car park. This way one could also use the station to travel south into London or north to locations like Leicester or Nottingham. Leaving their vehicle at the car park. The station has a waiting area (free for twenty minutes) for pickups from arriving passengers. The station does have waiting rooms, toilets, and a coffee shop to make waiting easier.

Overall, this railway station adds to Luton Airport’s already value oriented offerings.

Luton Airport Train

Luton Airport is one of the biggest airports in the country, serving millions of passengers each year, and is one of the primary hubs for visitors to London, whether this is for business or pleasure. Whilst the airport started off as a base for the RAF during the Second World War, it has come a long way from there, now serving flights from many airlines including EayJet, Thomson, RyanAir, Monarch Airlines and Wizz Air. Most flights from Luton are around Europe, but some are also offering to Northern Africa.

If you wish, it is very easy to get to Luton Airport via train. Luton Airport currently has no station so to get to the airport it is best to come in via St Pancras Station in London. If you are coming from Central London, the best way to get to St Pancras is to hop on the tube to the station, perhaps from London Bridge, Blackfriars, City or Farringdon. If you’re from further afield then look for trains into one of these stations and hop on. St Pancras is available as a common destination from a lot of trains coming down from the north of the country. From St Pancras you can get a regular train to Luton Parkway which is very close to the airport. Then from there you simply need to hop on to the shuttle bus which will take you to the airport itself. You can buy tickets from rail companies that will also be valid on the shuttle bus, thus bringing your overall price down, but even if you don’t buy one of these ‘through tickets’ the fee is nominal anyway.

Luton Airport Hotels

If you are flying away on holiday from Luton airport, the best way to make sure you don’t miss your flight is by staying overnight in a hotel near Luton. Unfortunately, in Britain even if you set off many hours before your flight there’s still no guarantee you’ll get there on time – if you’re coming by taxi, your own car or a rented car, there is every chance you could get stuck in traffic especially in the busy summer months where everyone is racing to the south of England to enjoy the nice weather, or racing to the airport to catch their flight to a foreign country. This means that there are often huge tailbacks, even on fast motorways because of large volumes of traffic and, more often than not, collisions. The best way to avoid getting stressed about missing your flight when stuck in these queues is to stay overnight in a hotel and enjoy a 5 or 10-minute drive the next day to catch your flight.

Alternatively, you may be flying into Luton for business purposes which means you will need a place to stay while you conduct your meetings. Luton is very well set up for this with hotels to cater for every company’s budgets (for you’ll surely be claiming back the room bill from the company) with hotels ranging from budget ones, where you simply need a place to sleep, to more luxurious ones where you can properly relax and get some work done to relax for the next day.

Luton Airport Departures Today

With summer rapidly closing in (even if it doesn’t feel like it with the current rain we’ve got!) there are a lot more flights appearing on the schedules at Luton Airport every day. In the colder seasons it is much quieter as people in the UK tend to go away for summer and spend winter at home to have Christmas with their families. A lot of our time is spent inside, huddled up in front of the fire like penguins trying not to catch our deaths in the UK winter! The UK summers can sometimes be bad as winter, with the recent heat wave experienced a few weeks ago seemed to be the only glimpse of summer we’ve got this year – we’re now in mid-June and all we have is unrelenting downpours!

If you’ve made the snap decision to get out of this awful weather, you might be interested to see what flights are available going out of the country at Luton today. Europe is well served from Luton and there is a handsome number of flights going to Paris, one of the key shopping destinations in Europe, as well as locations such as sunny locations such as southern Spain and France and Portugal. Luton does also offer more international departures going to locations such as Budapest and Tel Aviv should want to seriously get away! Finally, there are quite a few localised flights travelling from Luton today to locations such as the Scilly Isles off the coast of the UK if you just want to try and capture a glimpse of the sun whilst staying in the UK – if you’re going to get good weather in the country it’ll be here!

Parking at Luton Airport

One of the major failings about many of the London airports is that they are not within the city itself. This makes it very difficult to take the train to them as any journey will require you to go into the city itself and, after changing trains or even stations, you can then get yourself out to the airport. Naturally, this may not sound too bad; indeed, people have become defiant at this point and accused the questioner of calling them incompetent, yet in terms of the cost of travelling it is certainly not justified. Travelling into London is expensive but travelling back out again is even more so, and when you think that in getting to the airport to fly out, then away from the airport to get home you will be making the journey in and out of London twice, it doesn’t take long before you begin to realise that the cost is ever mounting.

Instead, if you decide to drive to the airport then all this is avoided. You can take all the motorways and not even drive through London; allowing you to avoid the congestion charge completely! You can then park at the airport which works out at under £1 per hour that you are parked there (provided you arte parking for over a day) meaning that you can save as much as 80% of the cost of taking a series of trains. Why pay more for a service that only results in you being inconvenienced?

London Luton Airport

When you think of London airports, the last one that usually comes to mind, if at all, is Luton. This airport is often overlooked because it is seen as a bit of a small airport and doesn’t offer the same number of flights as the larger airports. People also get into a habit of using certain airports; if you know and trust the service offered by one airport then you feel much more secure if you keep using it. It is a fear of the unknown and, unfortunately, this means that people become set in their habits. This subsequently means that Luton airport isn’t as popular as it should be.

This belief in staying with what you are accustomed to is all well and good, yet it results in you often paying much more than you should for your flights. Heathrow is the busiest airport in Britain, perhaps even in Europe, but the majority of the flights that go out are upwards of £150! The cheaper airlines don’t get much of a look in there, yet they are to be found in abundance in Luton. You can pick up a flight for under £80 without much trouble and, although it may be slightly more difficult to get to Luton airport, this massive saving is certainly worth it. Why would you choose to spend extra, especially in a time where money is tight anyway, when you can get the same service for a fraction of the cost? Use Luton airport, the much forgotten airport!

Luton Airport Departures

The departures lounges in all major London airports are very nice, with a mixture of shops and cafes to get you relaxed before your trip away, or there to help you buy any last-minute essentials, plus a few relaxation areas. Luton airport departures lounge is no different to this. The lounge at Luton is always kept tidy, with a dedicated cleaning team working throughout the day and the design of the room is very calming, with pastel colours and soft lighting to help you distress from the mad rush to the airport and check-in desks.

If you want to have a bit of fun and play a few games with friends or family, there is an amusement arcade to burn any loose change you may have, with gambling for adults or fun, simple games for young children. There is also a large WiFi network spanning the area to be tapped into if you are busy working on your laptop, but if you’ve forgotten it, or simply can’t be bothered unpacking it, you can hop onto a computer and get some work done, or surf the internet. Pay phones are available at various locations throughout the lounge.

Finally, for those who would like to get away from the busyness of the main airport departures lounge, an alternative

Luton Airport Arrivals

I had no idea before that Luton airport arrivals had so many car hire options. I am just booking a flight and need to hire a car as well and so am doing it at the same time. There are four car hire companies to choose from which means that I am sure I can get a really good deal. I will compare all of their prices and then decide which one to go for. I do not want a tiny car so I will not be likely to go for the cheapest but hopefully I will be able to find one which is good value for money and make a saving if I book online.

I always thought that Luton airport would not have that many facilities, so it just shows how wring you can be! I think I just thought it would be smaller than Gatwick and Heathrow and therefore be tiny, which of course it is not. I have been looking at the airport’s website and it has loads of good facilities and it makes me actually quite look forward to being there so that I can check them all out and find out what it is really like. Well it will give me something to do while I am hanging around for my flight home, which will probably be delayed as normal and when I am waiting to collect my luggage as mine always seems to be the very last one to appear on the carousel.
